The Meaning Behind the Name
Surah Al-A'raf, Ayah 26 – A Message of Modesty and Guidance
In Surah Al-A'raf (Chapter 7), verse 26, Allah says:
“O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness – that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember.” (7:26)
This verse reminds us that clothing is not only a basic human need but also a blessing from Allah. It serves two main purposes: covering the body and enhancing appearance. However, the verse goes deeper by highlighting that true beauty lies in righteousness – the spiritual "clothing" of piety, humility, and moral character.
It's a call to balance outer appearance with inner values. As we dress ourselves physically, we should also strive to clothe our hearts with taqwa (God-consciousness). The verse is both a reminder of human dignity and a guide to living with purpose and modesty.
